Successful salespeople need to keep their saws sharp by continually
studying and learning about  their “trade”. Reading books, listening to
CDs and attending seminars are among the most effective ways to do this.

In his book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” Stephen Covey
relates a story about a man cutting down a tree in the woods. As the
story goes the man has worked on cutting the tree for over five hours
and he is thoroughly exhausted. When asked why he doesn't take a
break for a few minutes to sharpen his saw so his job will be easier,
the man replies that he doesn't have time to sharpen the saw; he is to
busy cutting down the tree.
